OK I was going off the head.....I knew I heard that Trackmasters whisper on the Fiesta remix and more then likely they did it before that......Now im thinking of that "Did u ever think that you would be this rich" R Kelly song with Nas.....So as far as im concerned it was trackmasters

Clue-munatti!!!!!!!

thats the oldest one I can remember

stop it..

Trackmastas would have the artist say thier name in the beginning of a track (Allure ft Nas head over heels/Jay-z Wishing on a star),... but i really can't recall when they started doing the "whisper" on the tracks.

oh side note ... Teddy Riley was the first one to have a sig on his tracks.

darkchild didn't start doing that until 98

U say Teddy did it but on which tracks? School me.

Puff started adlibbing "Badboy" at the beginning of tracks back in 95-96 to brand his hitmen-Badboy production and the "Badboy Remix". Industry would later see and hear this on mainstream hits that quickly rose to the top and stayed there for weeks and demand his production afterwards. Producers caught onto this tactic after that.

Dark child - 1999 "say my name"
Swizz beats - 98/99

That said, I think Marley marl on "The Bridge"in 1986 is the official answer.

Or Teddy Riley on "Jam" by Guyin 1988.
