I kept thinking the same thing.

But here's why, do you feel that Mandarin will become an official language among blacks in the future as it rises in language growth internationally?

i say spanish for the least degree of difficulty and the fact that it translates into other languages more so than Mandarin.

I think it’s going to slowly take over next 20 years or so it’ll be as common in schools as Spanish ... I’m guessing that in 100 years it’ll displace English slowly as China takes over culturally...

English will still remain number one. However, Mandarin will likely take a no. 2 spot. I see French on the decline however.

There's a soft power element of the English language that allows it to be so dominant. It'll be hard for Mandarin to dislodge that unless the Chinese bring about a strong challenge on the soft power front. To do that they'd need to make waves in media, entertainment, sports, music etc.

Of course, the immersion itself will be very gradual. But I wonder by the time that our people are able to speak it on a major scale that if we don't transform the language into a new variation of Chinese like we did with many variations of English that us blacks had invented (Naijan Pidgin, Tok Posin, Jamaican Patois, American Ebonics)

We would be making up new words and create new Kanji for street slang and shyt lol

No Hispanic speaking country is a world power if we're being real.

Mandarin isn't going to spread without some huge necessity for it. The Chinese will teach all billion people English before any other world power teachers a third of their people Mandarin.

Mandarin or English.

Spanish is not the language of money/finance/power. Too many Africans and Indians are fluent in English plus other languages. Chinese will learn Mandarin and English. Many Europeans speak English plus one other language.

You would need a China/India/Russia type country speaking Spanish. Mexico, Argentina, Spain etc., ain't moving the culture like that.

Plus, Latinos barely speak Spanish after a generation in the US. After a generation or two, they go from Antonio Ramiro Romo to Tony Romo:

I mean..the smart money would be on mandarin but english is already so entrenched as the “universal” language of business I dont think anything is going to surpass it.

With time you never know.

There was a time when French and Latin were the dominant language everywhere. For example even in the 14th century, court proceedings in ENGLAND were held in Norman French language. It wasnt until 1362 that they passed the "Pleading in English Act" which changed court proceedings to be held in english in england. Pleading in English Act 1362 - Wikipedia

So english taking a backseat wont happen during our lifetimes but who knows what will happen 2 or 3 centuries into the future
