In America, Spanish

It's being taught in every school at every level, and now there are Spanish Immersion schools where they take every class im Spanish once they become fluent.

Hispanic will be the majority in USA in a few years, especially with how many kids they have

The interesting thing about China is that it was a superpower. It was the leader of technology. But due to stagnation and isolationism other countries surpassed them.

China today has a one-party system, serious environmental concerns, gender imbalance, etc. These are serious issues that prevent China from overtaking the US.

None. English will remain No.1.

On the real, there's no real reason to learn Spanish unless you are included in one of the following:
  1. Live in a country where it's the predominant language.
  2. Live in SoCal.
  3. Desire to become a Linguist/Translator/Spanish Teacher.
  4. Have travel plans to a predominantly Spanish-speaking country.
  5. Want to impress Latin hoes.
  6. Wish to be the Orochimaru of language.
Most Spanish-speaking countries aren't anything to write home about economically, and don't have a military presence outside of their immediate vicinity. English, on the other hand, is spoken by two countries that were/are (Great Britain and The USA.)

Mandarin might be too difficult of a language to even get close to surpassing English.

French. Africa is on the rise and many countries speak French on the continent.
But I don't think it's a majority.

Besides as much as I hate to say it the "Africa on the rise" stuff is a bit overhyped. Much of their countries are still under the control of Europeans via puppet presidents like in Ivory Coast and others. (See the recent news about Gbagbo). But I think it's just that black americans are now realizing the potential benefits of life in Africa and are now looking at it from different lenses as compared to their perceptions of Africa in the past.

Even in music, afro beat is just now getting popular in the U.S. but shyt's been popping way before that . Especially Congolese music which ironically has yet to really become mainstream in the US but that's more because of the language barrier. But seems like almost all the other African countries get some musical influence from them just as Jamaica is to the rest of the. English speaking Caribbean. Just listen to the underlying beats in most afrobeat song and you'll recognize the mainly Soukouss drum patterns

I think if we all spoke chinese it would not be the same as oriental speaking it.
We would hybridize it by making it a "vulgar" version (In other words change the language up.)

You got to realize a language does not become common till it is widely spoken or a book influences the course of language choice.
For example, Qin Shi Huangdi the first emperor of China commissioned scrolls to standardized the written script that Chinese use today. Martin Luther wrote the bible in easy to read common man talk German to unite germans, Italian replaced latin when the divine comedy was wrote. . .

Us nikkas got to start taking a cue from history because it's funny before the printing press us Africans wrote books for others to read. We got to do our ancestors some justice by using our own languages.

Mandarin itself is not a very hard language to speak as much as it is tedious about pronouncing. But like any language, the words may change sounds as it is adopted through new groups of people.

The languages of the Romance family all primarily come from Latin, but because different groups of foreign people adopted the language and it became vulgar latin because they not taught the language correctly as they adopted to it (Sound familiar? Hint hint Ebonics) so what started as harsh street language becomes it's own dialect until it grows and expands. Then it becomes it's own language with it's own set of rules. Listen to spanish and you'll hear how many Latin words are in it but it's a very simplified and more evolved version of Latin so it's not the same. But at one point in time the Spanish language was exactly a ghetto latin that evolved into itself.

It's different for English because English was the first constructed language which was made for military instruction between England and France (kind of like a code language that became more common as it was spoken) so us nikkas speaking English really shouldn't be happening because it was never our choice of tongue to begin with!

I know I'm going all over the place but I break down some things about it, now the language thing makes more sense when you connect everything I say together.

Face it a good 1/4th of this country is annexed/stolen Mexican territory. Some would argue they are reclaiming their land in a way.

On the East Coast all the Anglo-Saxon settlements that eventually became cities have English names like "New Jersey" and "New York" both named after York and Jersey in the (present day) Unitef Kingdom. Notice the English names of most Rest cost cities

But notice damn near every major settlements West and South-West have Spanish-ish names:
  • San Diego (Saint James)
  • San Francisco (Saint Francis)
  • Los Angeles (The Angels)
  • Sacramento (Sacrament)
  • San Antonio (Saint Anthony)
  • San Bernardino (Saint Bernard)
  • Las Vegas
  • El Paso
  • Santa Fe
  • Albuquerque
  • Etc
This tells me that these were well developed settlements/trading centers/cities of their time way,way before English speaking America ever got its hands on them

And despite those flaws they have managed to get this far surpassing many if not most European powers that had tried to conquer them.
Why should they divert from what's gotten them this far, again?:ld:

And even if they did have to divert from it that's doesn't mean they'll suddenly self-destroy.

Sure they'll have to deal with the pollution etc just as many other countries have had to. Y'all make it sound like it's a bomb about to explode. Y'all love to just drink that Western propaganda Kool-Aid. I dint believe anything China related if the source is AMERICAN or BRITISH or FRENCH.

Look Every country has its problems they must deal with. America has racism and gun violence. You have a well armed groups and millitias who are paranoid as fuxk plotting to fight the federal government. You have the world's biggest drug epidemic in the world's biggest market/economy so drugees have no problem finding money to feed their addiction. You deal with it and move in. So will China.

French
Arabic
Hindi-Urdu
Russian

are the most important languages to know outside English

I think mandarin’s importance is overrated. The Chinese are learning English And other foreign languages, very few non chinese people or East Asians learn mandarin. Also it’s a difficult language to learn and as someone mentioned, doesn’t have soft power that the above mentioned languages have.

Spanish and Portuguese are important in Latin America and Africa.

Swahili is important in East and Central Africa.

there’s also a plethora of regional lingual Francas that are important to know

Spanish will definitely help if you have clients in Spanish speaking countries/communities or invest in Latin America at all or want to communicate with a substantial part of the Country.

It’s utility outside the Americas is non existent. Portuguese is more global.
