Master P because he stayed independent and said he would never work for the white man. Jay and 50 clearly worked for the white man. Jay-Z watched Master P and basically did everything he did but with help from the white man. How many times have Jay Z named dropped Master P in songs?

No Limit was a label full of drug dealers and killers and P was the captain of all them nikkaz. It took Jay Z 16 years to reach the net worth that P had by 1999 and they came out at the same time. What no limit did will never be done again. CDs dropping every 2 weeks.

Master P did it bigger? Go on. Not saying you're wrong, but I think Jay has done everything he's accomplished in the grandest of fashions. Not to mention the aforementioned connections Jay has made, I can't see Master P breaking bread with the Warren Buffets of the world.

Before master p I don't remember hearing down south music on the radio in NY. he changed the game forever. Also told everyone how to get money and that's why every artist got they own label now.

Also master p said he was at a meeting with warren buffet BEFORE jay but he just didn't record it like jay did.

Don't really know what constitutes the best..but 50's prolly the most dramatic with him getting shot then rising to prominence while beefing with an established camp...puff and jay are the most successful individually, and not just because they're the richest...but both of those dudes are pretty much ingrained parts of americana...people will try to downplay it or what have you, but both them are A-List defining figures of our generation type of celebrities...Suge and P shouldn't even be options IMO because they lost it all :heh: and didn't have the longevity of any of the other names...they belong on another list along with Dame as "which mogul had the biggest fall off"

Dame, maybe, but P, hell nah
P just make more lowkey moves now and nobody could ever
recreate what he did in the late 90's. That alone is the reason why
he is an option. He was a movement, not just a success

:pachaha: people will never get over this myth that P is still some filthy rich multi 100million dollar super business man...I'll just re-post what I said before the subject :
Dude's hurting for money fam and it's the ONLY reason why he's ran back to gangsta rap...that Master P is still worth hundreds of millions of dollars is pure hip hop fantasy...at his peak, most of his worth was tied into owning No Limit...a company that is now worth nothing... and in the decade-plus since it went bankrupt (and being forced to give away ownership of the catalog in the restructuring like Suge had to with Death Row, meaning he receives no residual income from it) he's had nothing but an countless string of failed businesses and investments...like 3 or 4 failed labels...failed stage plays...invested who knows how much into that TV network that never materialized...failed movies that he couldn't afford to pay the cast and crew of... he's not out there making a goddamned fool of himself going against everything he's put into the past 5 years of forced image recreation for nothing

As a former or current multi-millionaire, you're not getting forced into involuntary personal
bankruptcy over $250K and having your assets frozen, seized and auctioned off if you're doing well financially

Hip-Hop Star Master P Facing Forced Bankruptcy

shyt, P pretty much admitted he was broke and was gonna "takeover the rap game again and make it back" when he first started this current return to gangsta rap

Master P Preps New Album Called “TMZ – Too Many Zeros” | AllHipHop.com

"I named this new record TMZ Too Many Zeros because it's true when they say "more money more problems" Master P. told AllHipHop.com. I'm on my Donald Trump swag. I could lose it all and get it back in 72 days"

Obvious difference between Trump and Percy being that Trump was even more successful after his initial fall off, and we all know this New New New No Limit ain't gonna amount to jack shyt....P trying to take over and blow up off again off of hardcore gangsta rap in 2013 after years of renouncing it at the age of 45 and being perceived by the rap populace at large as the personification of :flabbynsick: is :russ: status

Basically...if his story ended and time somehow froze in '99, then yeah I'd say it was one of the better stories...but then shyt took that Suge/Dame turn...it's kinda hard to give him all these props for being independent and owning all of the masters and the catalog and all that when he mismanaged the company and lost all ownership and rights to the shyt to creditors in bankruptcy court :manny:

Same goes for Suge...the Death Row catalog should've been on some "the Motown of gangsta rap" type shyt...instead he lost the shyt and it's getting passed around different random white folks labels like it's trash

To me, it went beyond the idea of money.
It was about reaching the masses during that time-frame.
Hell even Dame Dash couldn't do what he did with another
so call Jay-Z now.

I'm looking at the timeframe, not the money. The money
is cool but my point was P's movement. He worked hard
enough to be this so called "flabby and sick" of which
he really ain't. It depends on who you ask. He still grinding
on something and he's comfortable with that.

Yeah, I'll give him that run within that time frame...and I might've not completely gotten the spirit of the thread if we're just talking about which was the best story from the beginning to the peak, and not accounting for the what the end result ended up being...cause I like said, if his story ended in '99 and time was frozen there forever...then yeah I see that...kinda how if we could freeze time for AI immediately after he led the sixers to that game 1 Finals victory the season he won MVP, we could say he had one of the best NBA stories ever
