They're rappers turned moguls.
Jay got clothing lines,sports agency,restaurants,apps,etc..
50 got movies,headphones,book publishing,clothing line,did the vitamin water,video games etc
Em had a clothing line,did some acting,producing,etc..
All have ran successful labels as well.

i think its using yourself as a cash cow because of the succes you have as a rapper. I dont think its comparable with diddy,simons,master p building sh!t from the ground

Master P hit single was bitten concept that was originally from the bay. I think a lot of people tend to forget that Master P started his career in Richmond, CA.

He didn't build it from the ground up lol he just saw the opportunity and ran with it..no hate though just being honest.

I see where you coming from but we can't penalize them for being rappers. They're just shrewd businessmen that happened to rap. Look at other artists that tried it and failed. Not every successful rapper can succeed in the business world
Also take 50 for example. He hasn't did anything of note in the music world in years,yet he still making power moves

I'm not knocking his success in any way I seen some people talking about shady business tactics and that was the reason for my post . I didn't vote for Jay i voted for Eminem.

Nah not really. No disrespect to beastie boys but they were just riding the wave. They just happen to be in the right place at the right time, and they were originally a punk band. You never seen them ever giving rap props or doing anything with rap later on in their careers.

this is revisionist history.

3rd bass got more genuine love in hip-hop than Eminem.

as for the beastie boys; "licensed to ill" alone trumps Eminem's entire career in terms of hip-hop props.

Eminem is basically just vanilla ice with legit skills, if you want to go comparing Em to white rappers of the past.
