I know it's no longer the case but at one point it was Common...Almost to the point where it was kinda eerie..

Our dads were both hoopers and our moms were educators..

We both grew up around madness but always tried to maintain and promote peace..

Both went to HBCU's before dropping out....

Both of our best friends were murdered around the same age..

This song described my life almost to the very last detail after I dropped out of school and before I got back on track

Common - Book Of Life - YouTube

Common ft Lauryn Hill - Retrospect for Life (with lyrics). - YouTube

Then eventually he met Erykah Badu went left, then he blew up started doing big hollywood movies and smashing Serena Williams and I could no longer relate as much :pachaha:

Dope insight on why you related to the tracks too. Interesting similarities.

I feel you on Retrospective For Life, that is a deep and powerful song. Anybody who's been in a smilar situation or even had a scare can relate. And Book Of Life was DEEP too, one of my favourite Common songs, I fukked hard with This Is Me too.

I was like 15 when I first heard this song.. One of the most violent times in my life and the music everyone was bumping reflected that...This was like right when Death Row was about to take over the whole game completely..

Then when I heard this I was like

:ohhh: :ahh: :whew:

Whassup Scony Rony I'm that boney homey
from Stoney (Common) you know me!
Off the GP nikkaz see me on the TV
Talkin Take It EZ, and they was like "He ain't hardcore!"
But hardcore is far more than bats and gats
It stems back to the roots of being true
It's gonna get me Me, you just get you You
What I look like, talkin about some shyt I ain't do?
I ain't shoot nobody I ain't shank nobody
I ain't kill nobody, it wasn't us it was THEM!
The Warriors, I'm a warrior and still don't have to show no gun
It takes one to know one, and no one can tell me
how to be, cause I'ma be me, aight?
Cause I'm a man, now check it

I probably would get bumped more if I was a gangster
But I am a gangsta, call me the gangsta of love!!!
I love good music, I love my momma
I love myself, I love you, and you love me
And thisis -- I'm out

That is real. That shows how powerful Hip Hop is. These kind of songs helped shape me too.
