Tbh the gulf coast cuisine is different from the other cultural regions of the south (Appalachia, delta, etc), so New Orleans shares a lot of common culture with southern ms, southern Al and the FL panhandle. For instance the best place I ate a poboy was at Bozos in Pascagoula MS. I’m partial to Alabama gumbo and shrimp
