Yeah Rog was trash in Alpha 3. His dash punch would miss if crouching and he couldn't do a headbutt unless you picked that ism where you can't air block

People talking about Balrog..... Do you realize he was top tier if not the best character in almost every street fighter game that He has been in? I don't think that is very lame at all.

I think people have a problem with the character, not the effectiveness of the character in-game. Why can't the black guy be the rival or the protagonist? Canonically balrog is so Everything about the character is cringeworthy.

I think people have a problem with the character, not the effectiveness of the character in-game. Why can't the black guy be the rival or the protagonist? Canonically balrog is so Everything about the character is cringeworthy.

he's based on mike tyson. Mike Tyson is not a role model or a "normal" guy. I don't know about street fighter Cannon stories, but from the Game balrog seems like an exaggerated cartoon version of Iron Mike.

I could understand if you were talking about characters based on pure fiction and not someone like Balrog.


As for rivals or protagonists that were Black, Sean was a main character of Street fighter 3. He was the new Shoto. Look at the fan reaction to him. nobody really liked him even when he was ultra powerful as an in-game Character. Then they made him into a Joke Character. No other character in the history of fighting has ever been made that weak in a subsequent version or sequel. They made him go from level 10 to level 1in one swoop. Nobody gave a shyt or even cared at the time. Nobody actually liked him. The biggest complaint at the time was that Ibuki was made weaker. She was really the only popular character of the New Generation.


Honestly, there will never be a Black protagonist or Rival in a Fighting game. The majority of the people who play videogames in the world are either East Asian or White. Whether people admit to being racist or not, people are drawn to characters that reflect who they are or who they want to be. Subconsciously, they will not like this or that character because of race and later come up with non-racist justifications as why. This whole thread is a product of that. The developers know that, so they will never take a risk like that.

sean wasn't shyttier version. In-game, he was stonger than Ryu and ken. He basically was on Yun/Yang's level before SF3:3S.

SF3 had parries so fireballs were useless. Sean was a brazilian jujistu trained fighter who leanred shoto-arts later in life. I think he is more like a SNK-type dude. His dragon-punch was more like Terry Bogard's power-dunk.... Well before SF3:3S....

I have playing SF3:2i lately. Sean is fukking monster in that game. He had so many hit-confirms into his Hyper-tornedo. Sean, with two Super-bars full, is a very dangerous character. He can erase someone's lifebar with basically four moves.

Like I said, Capcom makes Black Characters in to Ultra Toptier characters, yet nobody ever uses them. It because of racism. The racism of the game players .

Sounds like you got some issues. A character can still be a shyttier version despite being top tier. Oni is a shyttier, lame version of Akuma and they could make him top tier in Ultra and it'd still be true.

Rog has been both good and popular in nearly every game he's ever been in.

And again, theres very few white guys even in the competitive scene so no.
