I fully expected Beyonce to win for "Lemonade" because of the impact it had that year between the songs, the videos...which followed the elevator incident.
Could've won for the double album "Beyonce" too. How good was Beck's "Morning Phase" album? Honest question.
That is an insane ratio considering there have been 65 album of the year awards handed out.
Especially when you consider how much influence hip-hop has had over 40 years, but only 2 Album of the Year awards (Lauryn Hill and Outkast).
I don't know how people put up with the obvious disrespect. It's very blatant.
Of course, they need Beyonce and everyone else to show up to drive ratings up though.
They do it all the time: when Black artists dominate a year on the charts, the Grammy's
hold back giving them awards to finalize a terrific run.
However, a white artist does the same thing and they're getting
showered with awards the whole night, solidiying a "
mAgniFiceNt,
caPtivatiNg" year.
I halfway expect the Grammy's to eventually give Beyonce the main award (maybe), but it'll be when her star and influence wades, maybe
at the expense of a newer Black artist who really lit the charts up and many deem "next" or has won the people's hearts worldwide.
