I'm proud of him. Wish there were more like him.
Honestly...it's very hard for me to reconcile wanting to support black media with an understanding that so many of them just seem to want to keep the status quo. On one hand I'm mad that someone like Iggy or Ariana Grande or Miley gets to have the place that they have in pop music, based almost exclusively on sounds that WE created. On the other hand....I'm like....fukk these black entertainers...if they aren't going to be for our community, than what does it matter if they aren't getting the money and fame?
If Chadwick Boseman comes out as a #newblack after as excited as I was for him to get the BP role....
2014 seems like it has been the year of "No nikkas" for Black celebs. Like...I've never been one to place too much importance on class *within* my own community because I think it leads to an emotional split as opposed to just a financial one that is already there....but many of our own folks seem mighty embarrassed to even be associated with us and I'm more and more likely than ever before to just look at ALL of these mutha fukkas as just some silver spoon, highfalutin, sheltered agents for white supremacy.
