Same people who are gonna diss us for admitting this are the same ones tryna get their kids in white, I mean "good" schools :mjpls:
I won't diss you cause there is truth in what you say but as somebody that has lived in this type of neighborhood it isn't as bad a people would make it seem. You have shootings and the like but anybody can tell you for the most part in the hood if you not involved with drugs and the like you aren't going to get messed with way more times than not. Thats just real.

:snoop: at some of those top comments to the article. It might not be right to them but do they really think a group of people oppressed for 400 years is just gonna embrace them automatically, especially kids. Every kid gets teased about something, they just got teased for being white.

I can only speak from my own experiences. As a white person who has lived in many different areas over the last decade from predominately black, white or Hispanic neighborhoods.

Seems like the only people who give me a hard time are other white people. For example few months ago I bumped into some cracked out white guy on my way to the laundromat and he started screaming how he should bash my fukking head in.

All people are capable of bad or good, its just odd to me how some people take one or two incidents and use them as the justification to vilify whole groups of people. :manny:

Thats just how must people are when its not the group they belong to that is doing the wrong if you think about it. Its silly imo but thats how it is for most.

this is not true at all

as a matter of fact if u are not clicked up in some way, shape or form then you are MORE likely to get messed with than those who are affiliated with some crew. They call those people "food". That's part of the reason why these young kids join gangs, for protection from other savage folks.

Black neighborhoods are a wild jungle b

and buildings/architecture don't make neighborhoods bad, people do

keep yo black ass outta my peaceful neighborhood b

This article seems like it was written by someone who's never seen a black person in his life. This isn't "Being White in Philly" it's "Being a Yuppie in an inner city" :rudy:

I can agree with this. I went to a predominantly black high school. I'm white.. and I never had any problems with the black kids. None of them ever fukked with me, in fact most of them were always cool with me. Anytime anyone gave me a hard time in school it would be a white kid..

In fact, I remember I had to eat lunch at a different time in school once.. so I sat at my usual table where I ate every day.. this being a different lunch period than usual the same people wouldn't be sitting with me. This black kid sits down and is like "You can sit here.. but when my friends come they might wonder what the fukk you're doing here.. just a heads up." Sure enough the rest of the table starts filling up, and it's all black kids. They look at me.. like :wtf:  and one of them says to the first kid I was talking to "You know him.." and he replies "Yeah he's cool" and I stayed and ate the rest of my lunch. I always thought that was cool, cause I didn't know that dude but he went out his way to vouch for me to his friends. You know you watch high school movies, and you see the outcast sitting at the cool table get laughed up out his seat and embarrassed. The exact opposite happened here.. and I don't think the same would've happened had I sat at the cool table full of white kids.

This article is incredibly long, and look how many comments it got! It is interesting and thoughtful, though.

Thanks, OP. I will forward it to friends and family for consideration.

Philly folk are overdue to join hands in a circle around the city and sing Kuumbaya or some shyt. Y'all have been holding it in for too long.
