A lot of Gen Z (and even some younger Gen Y) were raised on the internet and have little to no social skills.
Streamers were the answer to that because you can be their "friend" (via a parasocial relationship) without actually interacting with them directly.
So I get why streamers exist but it's basically the wild wild west out there. I been following the rise of streaming for years because it's fascinating from a social standpoint....but the vast majority of them are weirdos and/or awful people. I'd say 90%, easily.
There's no oversight, and the only real consequences for being a terrible person is losing money. And even that doesn't happen often enough.
