Nah this ain’t about Bruno Mars. This current trend that you’re seeing is all from Justin Timberlake, the neptunes and timberland. Black producers who loved seeing white artists with “flavor”

this was 15 years ago when r&b artists still had relevance

bruno is the one NOW making r&b type music. yall need to wake up, when he came on the scene he was on that jason mraz fedora wearing shyt and was successful. he started making other types of music and was even more successful. the labels and industry are on that "follow the leader" shyt

Usher has dropped like three albums since that edm one…which was 12 years ago.

read the first part of that sentence, he doesnt care about putting new r&b music out he is a legacy artist with a residency. others should have taken up the mantle but they fell into the same trap he did: chasing music industry trends. need a pop song to blow, or a dance edm song, etc

people abandoned r&b for other sounds, the industry kept rolling, now its circled back but they dont want black artists as the forefront

This is mostly the Black audience's fault.
Y'all keep letting Socks in the crew.
nikkas get hella excited when they see others sampling our culture.
Psychologically, its because so many of us subconsciously seek cacs validation.
Once they get in, they take what they want and then toss us back to the hood once they're done.

Nah. Bruno would not have been able to do that if pakk wasn’t next to him, he had to get someone black beside him. In 2022 people would have called him out

stop the delusions, look at 24k magic and the music he was making before silk sonic. he was having a lot of accolades and success without a partner, he didnt need anderson paak. paak is a nobody in the mainstream with that bruno mars connection, maybe bruno grabbed him up to avoid another callout by he addressed it before

The thing is that when Black artists release the kind of songs posted in the OP, it gets labelled as R&B regardless of whether it’s actually R&B or not or it’s even labelled as “urban” thus limiting their reach.
Meanwhile the white artists get labelled as pop regardless and reap all the pop awards.

Labels do not want to push Black artists who aren’t making anything outside of Hip-Hop and even then they will still drag their feet in pushing R&B artists too. They want a Black product with a white face attached to it.

Ariana Grande is another example of a white artist making R&B or Trap-leaning type of music and getting plenty of success from it.

Another thing here which has to be said is that a lot of Black people are also complicit in hyping up cacs for doing the bare minimum or because they tried to be “down”. That’s how you end up with artists like Miley, Post Malone, MGK and Justin Bieber who bait-and-switch by coming up off of Black music to seem authentic and edgy then “go back to their roots” while making :mjpls: comments about the past music too.

Straight facts

You’re 100% right, especially on the validation part. Its how i feel about Jack Harlow, who is as mediocre of a rapper as can be, but is being skyrocketed to the forefront of everything

You know

The current crop grew up listening to Justin Timberlake. Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber was doing those R&B styled records before 24k magic. Focusing on Bruno Mars is lazy as you have all these white artists who’s been doing this for years. It’s been in y’all face for years, could have called out Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber but y’all decided to focus on Bruno Mars :mjlol:You must be young to think Bruno Mars started this. Truth be told a lot of those white boy bands were doing new jack swing in the late 90s early 2000s.

A lot of them are working with black producers..How is it that these white pop artists are getting better r&b songs than r&b artists? These are the real culture vultures and these producers are sellouts

Warned y’all years ago.

It’s their music now.

Pop music absorbed everything with crossovers.

Same reason girl/boy groups were a huge thing until the early 2000s. Now music videos aren’t as necessary and record companies would rather just make a solo artist have 6 collabs on a 11 song album.
