There is a way to stop them. People who are rational need to be more ardent, more stern, and uncompromising in favoring rational/just, no-nonsense policies.

Too many people that are logical are too agreeable and thus look for ways to appeal to those who are irrational or acting in bad faith. That must stop. The Overton window must be pushed towards rational and just laws. If not, those republicans will keep pushing and pushing until they destroy everyone, including themselves.
