There is a bit of poetic justice here.
I was told for years, white supremacy was some figment of my imagination, some fake entity that lazy blacks who are not about personal responsibility choose to create and place blame on. It was us giving white folks too much credit, us not believing in ourselves etc.
It's shameful that it took that March to bring the term white supremacy to the mainstream. But truthfully, a few funky cacs fighting each other over some monument coming down is not the apex example of the system of white supremacy. And honestly it is deception when they are trying to only talk about white supremacy under this context of white folks carrying torches. This is a small part of it. The real examples of white supremacy, is the fact those people protesting go back to being law makers, police officers, lawyers, bankers, teachers and professors, business owners, writers and journalist etc once that protest is over, so bank loans continue to not be given to black people, kids continue to get miseducated, funding for services and programs that help black people continue to get cut, jobs get lost, white business owners manipulate and block out aspiring black business owners from opening a business in certain areas they know would be profitable, Cia operatives continue to monitor black leaders in hopes to kill them and the movement and many other forms of what the system of white supremacy is.
