I don't want to get too philosophical but its a matter of.... Are "We" what we how we communicate with the world or "We" do in the world. Evidence says its the latter
There are a myriad of studies and terms for Internet depersonalization affects us. Most conclude the Internet encourages people to act out. The Internet takes the worse aspects of groupthink and combines it with a form of anonymity. Very few ppl take that kind of bad behavior offline because the real world doesn't tolerate it.
Twitter is a perfect example. You would think the Libs were winning the culture based on how often they draft the Right or the anti lbtgzyq+ In the real world, the Left is politically trash and most ppl don't want men in the girls bathroom. All that bickering on sm doesn't translate to real life. Can it influence it? Yes, there are many weak minded ppl out there who think twitter is real. But go any random spot in America and say "Black men are the White men of Black people" and ppl will look at you funny.
Acting like the Internet is a real place will only normalize it and the amount of irl psychopath spillover irl will increase.
