Bro. There’s not disingenuous anything in his post. Just because you don’t know it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. The average starting for a teacher in Massachusetts is like $60k. The average teacher salary in the city of Boston is pretty much $100k. There are some making close to $200k once they max out the step scale, degrees, professional development and collect $10k per varsity sport and clubs.

Anyone who chooses to teach in a state where they don’t value education (Massachusetts is #1 K12 in the country) that’s on them.

edit: my bad. Boston is $105k now. Yes, 6 figures. And you can add 3% + 3% to those totals since it’s two years outdated and that’s the average raise mass teachers get. Strong union state.

so whenever anyone wants to know what Massachusetts department of education does differently from Mississippi, now you know. Also, don’t give me that cost of living BS. Check the list I linked above. There are some bum ass places in Massachusetts out in the middle of nowhere with way lower cost of living then most southern major cities. And those teachers are still caking $$$$$$$$$ double the money in most cases.

Also, no clue why the removed the starting salary column. It used to be there last time I checked. And the state average was $60k and that was 4 years ago.

Good point, yeah if you're an aspiring teacher you need to move to a blue state that actually has a strong teacher's unions. Places like Massachusetts, parts of the DMV, Chicago, Cali, NY, you can top out in the lower six figures after x amount of years.

Asians and African immigrants = HARD on their kids. It's not about pass/fail...it's about getting A's. Parents look at lil Uchenna sideways if he brings home an A- in AP Physics. If the teacher is hella racist, they'll say something but if the teacher is even/fair, they will not tolerate any bullshyt from the kid.

Latinos = wife teaches this group. They are involved at the elementary level but not sure they are as involved once kids hit middle school. Mostly neutral. Soft on the kids sometimes.

Whites = very involved but not always in a way that HELPS the teacher. The most likely to question the teacher if Bradley gets a D on his test. 50/50 either very supportive or very antagonistic to teachers.

ADOS = all over the place. Tiger moms, average parents and absent parents. Our kids got the most variance so you never know how it's going to go. Black male coaches and black females with the right "momma and auntie" attitude can almost always keep kids in check. Other races, it varies a lot. White male coaches (football and hoops) can do it if they project authority but the rest....

Not for a single person in Metro Atlanta. Cut it out… You guys don’t live in the real world… That’s at least $1500 after taxes twice a month. Your rent for a 1BR in a decent part of town will be $1200. After paying utilities, insurance, car note, gas and buying groceries. If you are fiscally responsible, you should be able to save $500/month. Balling? No but definitely decent. Throw in summer school and some schools pay a little extra around testing time to stay behind for an hour or two to help students get prepared, you’re fine.

Everyone looks at IG and think they’re entitled to going to brunch and having mimosas every Saturday, buying the latest and greatest clothing, and going on a couple of vacations every year. They get themselves into debt and then complain that they don’t make enough.

You can do all these things on a teacher salary in nyc which is about 60-80k. Aside from the institution of family, the educational institution is in a bad way.

The only rockstar intellect I can name is Jordan Peterson. He says what’s on his mind for better or worse. Michael Eric Dyson just be virtue signaling. Yea, he dusted Peterson in a debate, but he has nothing of value to say to our community.

Black intellects tend to flourish in the field of tellin cacs bout themselves anyway. They have fewer answers than entertainers in regards to what to do with the black community.

The state of the intellectual community is mirrored in education.

People are teaching for the money. I’ve met very few, if any teachers who have a real interest in intellect. Their interest lies in living a professional life and doesn’t extend too far beyond that.

The reason there’s no vested interest in intellect is because most of America’s problems are rooted in a racial identity crisis.

From racism to colorism to white passing, nobody wants to have these conversations.

Teachers are actually getting paid to suppress these topic. Just reinforce the white vs poc binary and keep it pushing.

I don’t want to hear complaints about teachers not getting paid enough.

In fact, I’d like to see what happened to cops with blm in the education system.

I’ve been saying this for about 5 years. But America always needs a sensationalized headline. How it was for cops and violence, I surmise that the controversy for teachers will center around sexual misconduct with students.

While sexuality isn’t the root issue, it does address the lack of accountability within the power dynamic.
