They really don’t… I know several teachers that make like 60k. They only work like 9 months out of the year as well. Throw in summer school, they’re close to 70k. Balling? No but definitely decent.

Highly depends on the state, the strength of the union (if you have one), and how many years you have been teacheing.
Teachers dont work 8 hour days either.
Lesson planning and grading papers takes up a lot of time.
