I'm legit curious, how are yall relating it to black people? I've never once thought that "woke" had anything to do with us, specifically. I don't relate it to us in any way. Isn't "woke" just being aware of the nonsense we are all lied to about by the "higher-ups", pretty much? That encompasses people from literally every culture

Black people coined the term. Racists in-turn started using it to mock Black people and diminish any attempt to call attention to anti-Blackness. From there it began to be used to mock and downplay anything slightly perceived as progressive.
