This is why when someone says "how come there's no White History Month"....Black people have an answer.

Most scholars make the mistake talking about race and the struggle. "We have it because for too long we were denied blah, blah."

The REAL reason is that "whiteness" isn't based on any shared commonality within that group. Whiteness initially excluded Irish (which is as white as you can get damn near), Italians/Greeks (basically the founders of white civilization) etc.

Whiteness changes and expands so that it can remain in opposition to Blackness. No one cares if you have Greek American History month or Norwegian American History month. Those are actual cultures. "White" is not fixed and constantly changes....only existing to deny us...it's purely about evil and racism so it's not something to celebrate.

Blackness in the United States has pretty much always referred to light, medium brown and dark brown skinned people with visible African ancestry...even if it's just a drop. That hasn't changed since the Mayflower and Squanto an em.
