Depends on the person. The goal is usually lighten everywhere. But because of where the skin natural bunches up, their joints usually remain darker.

As already mentioned, bleaching creams have multiple uses so yes dear as a black woman, who knows, lives with and talks to other black women... They do "buy the shyt". Hydroquinone is used in many products, and both here and on Lsa there are threads for help with "discoloration".

Okay it's time to call this what it really is...MENTAL ILLNESS.

For real though, everytime I see before and after pics of black people bleaching, they always looked better before.

But yeah this is for @Strawberry and your question. Really, this is the result of living in a white dominated society where whiteness and white people are plastered everywhere as the "standard" (of beauty, of humanity, default human, etc). Seeing images of white people in multi-faceted areas of life in mostly positive positions while seeing blacks in lesser than positions has a terrible effect on the black mind...and many black people succumb to this sadly in one way or another.

I don't know...I tried. It's a complex issue that can't be summed up in a whole blurb of text.

They still sell it but it's advertised to reduce spots and blotches. I've used it for this purpose. It didn't really work for me though. Lemon juice worked much better.
