Dark women really need to stop referring to themselves as "brown" it's just embarrassing. You have women the same complexion as Gabrielle Union and Kelly Rowland saying they aren't dark they're brown.

I see this a lot. Idk why ppl think you have to be Lupita's color to be considered dark skinned. To be considered brown skin, you would literally have to be smack dab in the middle like Meagan Good. If you're darker than that, then you're brown skinned. Both Kelly Rowland and Alek Wek are dark skinned, just varying gradients. I'm dark-skinned. Ain't nothing wrong with claiming that.

Whitney had an amazing voice, had clive davis and had GREAT MUSIC plus she came out in the 80s/90s so it wasn't about skin complexion. Look at Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker. Now Mariah carey changed the game. Because now you have a light skin version of whitney. Someone who has amazing vocal range. NOw it's all about what's marketable. Now im not gonna sit here and act like any light skinned person would be successful. That's far from the truth. Hell man, if that were true. Claudette Ortiz would be a huge platinum star. Damn man i really thought she was the next one. But anyway, record labels shoved Beyonce and Rihanna down our throats. It's up to us if we wanna accept it or not.

Why do people keep saying brown skin and not darkskin when brown is a dark color.So if her skin was brown,then her skin should be classified as dark.
