One Of The Last Real Ones To Do It
I think the expectations go up for Thibs and if he doesn’t meet them he is fired. Meanwhile they’ll continue to focus on player development behind the scenes.
This! Plus I think this off-season is when they press to get a star for that next step. The cap timing looks right.I think the expectations go up for Thibs and if he doesn’t meet them he is fired. Meanwhile they’ll continue to focus on player development behind the scenes.
Randle for Ayton....straight up
+ get some shooters
+ keep RJ Barrett, Quickly, and Grimes
I'm also cool with getting Dame or KAT

Yeah Fournier is basically requesting a trade and I don’t blame him, he barely said anything during the season. The Knicks need to continue to improve both internally and externally and development is the one thing Thibs is good at. He’s a college coach hiding in the NBA.This! My only hope for Thibs is he stops with the damn hockey substitutions .
Mix and match the roster so you can play guys together in the playoffs and it isn’t just a gimmick. Quick should know what his role is with the starters, Grimes and RJ should know what to do if they are with the bench, and vice versa. The Hockey Substitutions shyt isn’t cutting it anymore.
I just want a coach that coaches in 2023.
besides our shot profile....we havent changed too much to optimize our players to be as best as they can be.
we dont artificially create spacing with having non shooters screening off ball for looks for our actual shooters like grimes or iq.
we misuse our players best skillsets like hartenstein's passing ability so we have no real means to pivot when teams stimy our bread and butter(iso)
we run a very very static offense with guys who stand in the same spots...and relocate SOMETIMES.
we legit try to run a 2017 rockets offense in 2023...but with less talented players overall...when the shyt was actually figured out 6 years ago WITH AN IN PRIME MVP running it
brunson just happens to be so skilled that poor coaching doesnt factor all that much. Everyone else needs to be optimized. Spoelstras optimizes fringe nba players who have specific nba skills...and masks all their defficiencies...while thibs just rolls the ball out there and wants you to do the same thing over and over.... just HARDER
discipline is definitely needed to win, but the ability to pivot, adjust, recalculate mid game and be flexible is something we havent seen enough of from thibs. He isnt the same old thibs of decades past but he isnt going to change his core completely to be something that fits entirely in the modern nba
you need multiple ELITE nba players to win with thibs. guys that can police themselves on the court in terms of decision making especially on offense.
spoelstra just needs one bonafide elite player and he'll make some shyt happen more often than not. that's the difference in levels.
This whole post sums it up beautifully
What I bolded is exactly what we need; someone younger who's more in tune with how the game is played in 2023; not the 2000's & 2010's. A modern coach would try to maximize his players skill set & best attributes. Thibs way of coaching for the most part is conforming to his out of date philosophy & approach that doesn't work in today's NBA
It blows my mind people complain about Randle and then suggest AytonRandle for Ayton....straight up

you just be saying shyt that makes no sense. It's really not Thibs fault RJ can't shoot and/or IQ got hurt.
Thibs and staff did a hell of a job this year with a group that was not picked to win 40 games.
It's Thibs fault for not varying the offense, not making timely adjustments, & playing the starters way too many minutes. And let's not even start on the mismanagement & stunted growth of Obi. He holds everyone else accountable except Randle who's the worst offender & gives a half ass effort constantly. Thibs is a MAJOR part of the problem with the teamIt's really not Thibs fault RJ can't shoot and/or IQ got hurt.

Not just all at once it's usually the same guys coming in at the same time.Non-US breh here, hockey subs is when you sub multiple players at once?
.
Not just all at once it's usually the same guys coming in at the same time.
Low key it builds certain bas habits where guys don't know what to do when playing together, or guys get use to coming in at certain times and expect a certain amount of time to get into rhythm. Also if injuries happen it throws everyone out of whack, It also create a ton of tape on these lineups come playoff time.
For a basketball team the knicks are too predictable. They need to start adding depth to the playbook and lineups in preparation for executing in the playoffs.
