Everyone seems to want Randell out of here. :deadrose:
What's the best place to send him, that gets us something back we could use?

I saw a scenario where if Harden goes back to Houston, they have some young guys and picks they could trade (A third team would have to be involved to make the money work). I don't think they want to rebuild, and if they can get a player right away to add to Harden, and the top pick they draft they would have pieces to build towards a playoff team. They already got Ujiri, so they aren't wasting anytime.
I’m not sure what the solution is but Randle and Barrett cannot play together. I’d be in favor of getting rid of both but since that’s not happening one has to go.

Just throwing some names out there that they can actually get. Who do you think will be / is available? Doesn't seem to be many good free agents out there that they can get.
This FA is trash, the draft is pretty good, but there are options based on them moving Fournier, Rose, Topping, picks and the rights to Rokas.

Knicks got options and here are a few I can think of off the top of my head.

If they move Randle for cap space scenario and then Chase Cam Johnson in FA, the Nets don’t match (gotta pay Cam), and then they grab a guy like Deion Wright or Divincenzo with the MLE for the bench. Cam Johnson could be great on this team.

Brunson/IQ
Grimes/Donte D or Deion
RJ/Hart
Cam Johnson/Toppin
Mitch/IHart/

A high Risk/Reward move is they trade the Warriors for Poole and Kuminga and bet on them being like Brunson and doing well in a new situation. Its not playing it safe but it isn’t always a good move to play it safe. I think Poole and Kuminga are solid NBA players being vilified because they want minutes on a team with Steph/Klay/Dray/Wiggins ahead of them.

Brunson/IQ
Grimes/Poole
RJ/Hart
Randle/Kuminga
Mitch/IHart

For the most likely (and lazy) scenario is they trade for CP3 because while he is a boost short term we’ve seen that Thibs will either overplay a vet and run them into the ground or just not play them at all. The difference between Kemba and Reddish is you can at least move a Reddish for another player because he is young.

Brunson/CP3
Grimes/IQ
RJ/Hart
Randle/Toppin
Mitch/IHart

Scenario A is the most ideal for sure. Cam Johnson would hopefully mean more playing time for Obi too.

The Nets would never let Cam Johnson go to the Knicks as he's restricted so can forget about that

Poole is fukking terrible. There's no way you watched him play this season and think you want him on this team. He would be the highest paid player on the team that's lunacy

Karl Towns is CAA, the chances of him ending up in NY are probably higher than what you're all imagining.
to be fair, it's not the most compatible pairing in terms of trade partners. There would need to be a third team that would want Randle.

I think there are a few teams who there who would jump at the chance to land Randle. The Suns and Mavs would probably welcome Randle with open arms (admittedly they don't really have many assets to help facilitate a trade though). Washington taking on Randle and sending Kuzma back in a three way I can see happening. Also Charlotte and Portland might want in too.... Honestly I don't think Minny or NY would have to get too creative with a third team to get a deal done.

I would say come up with some scenarios to discuss, but I know it's easier to just shyt on mine

:stopitslime:

Cam’s a RFA and we don't know what the Nets will or won't match. The GM was just saying they want people who want to be there, probably out of shell shock from losing Harden, Kyrie, and KD in a year. Sean Marks should be fired but Tsai likes him like Dolan liked Mills…
:mjlol:

Anyhow any scenario where Julius is moved for cap space means the Knicks are probably going to make the moves needed to have $30+ million in cap space by moving Fournier and renouncing Rose. The Knicks as designed can trade for a salary in 30 Mil range and keep the Kids and Hart. The Knicks cap sheet is perfect for a team wanting to make a push. The only reason to trade Randle is to then make a move for 30 Million in cap space.
:ehh:

Also stop listening to the Salty Warriors fans, Poole avg 20 pts a game while the warriors were yo-yoing his role all season between starter and bench scorer (which is what he is) to accommodate Klay and Curry missing games. His main flaw is his 3 pt efficiency went down and turn overs, but this could be a bad year, because he started taking bad shots. The eye test shows he gets buckets, but he’s a microwave scorer. On the warriors his skills are redundant (like how RJ or Randle are redundant) as are his flaws. So any strategy designed to stop outside shooting works against him like it does the whole team. Kind of how the Knicks are weak to a Zone defense. The Knicks need bench creation and bench scoring to get around the zone, Poole does both of those, is available, and the Knicks could charge the warriors Kuminga for it that fixes another issue with the backup forward position.
:hubie:

Anyhow these media heads keep talking about the Knicks playing safe with roleplayers with no upside, Stars past their prime that would cost them everything to get, or gutting the whole thing to move Randle for players they can’t actually name. The Knicks aren’t a bad team they just got to fix their outside shooting and bench creation. They also aren’t established enough to not take a chance on guys who the media is vilifying. Not if they want to improve instead of look good. Which is the theme of the whole team. Brunson was overpaid, Randle was not matched by the Lakers, RJ was the third pick in a 2 man draft, Mitch fell out the first round, and the media literally made fun of them for even drafting Quickley.

The Knicks best team in a decade is made of guys that aren’t a good look.

I never considered the Warriors but Poole+Kuminga for Randle seems realistic. Id still want more though tbh.

I wouldn’t do it for Randle, I would do it to make Randles job easier. A Bad game sucks, but the zone and lack of bench scoring was what killed this team the whole series. IQ is healthy maybe they win, but the problem there is that is relying on one man to fix a problem one player can’t fix unless they are a star.
