We lost cause Miami forced us to shoot. Boston isn’t the best coached team.

Honestly, I think NY’s defense was scarier than Boston’s. :patrice:

Felt like the Knicks were contesting everything and were fine in a dogfight. Outside of Julius’ pouting, y’all never crumbled mentally either.

Boston is still soft too. We would have bullied them like we bullied Cleveland.

thibs got us 2 playoff berths in da last 3 years and won us our first playoff series in over 10 years. and It aint like he's workin with max players or mvp's like da bucks or 76ers either. We were only supposed to win 30 games.

That counts for something. if randle and quick play anywhere near their regular season stats, we are in da conference finals right now.

He coulda did more adjustment wise, but its not all on him. Even josh hart took a step back this series. They outhustled and manhandled us.

Agreed.

And when looking at heat versus the celtics... We really weren't playing against a typical 8th seed

I think the injuries kinda got downplayed too. Randle, Brunson, and Hart were on shoddy ankles from the first series; Grimes' shoulder was hurt and Sims had surgery; then IQ missed the last three games with another ankle injury. It's not an excuse, Miami missed Herro and Butler/Brunson elevated their play despite injuries. But at least some of the offense collapsing can be attributed from Hart losing a step, Grimes losing his shooting touch, and Randle/IQ vanishing.

Thibs deserves a shot to run it back. Then Johnnie Bryant probably deserves the next look if the Knicks seem stuck.

I think the addition of Brunson covered most of Thibs glaring flaws even though we need a coach that can get us better/easier shots & looks. We won 37 games last season & that was a down year w/o JB. Most of us knew we'd win more with JB but we probably didn't realize HOW impactful he'd be. Unfortunately that bought Thibs more time even though since the Hawks playoff series (and Thibs coaching career) the offense needs an overhaul.

I'm not against keeping him, but the FO should be actively looking for a suitable replacement because we're gonna end up in the same place & saying the same things about Thibs because he's not elite & won't get us over the hump. We're just postponing the inevitable of Thibs getting let go & wasting time & JB's prime

*Edit*

The same shyt happened when Melo was here & we wasted his prime with bad teams & bad coaches around him. I don't wanna see history repeating itself again just because the FO is afraid to make tough decisions in either letting go personnel/players

We got outhustled the whole series. That's a mental thing.

I wanna revisit this quote when a teams use a zone defense for Thibs & Randle......I'm really hoping those two prove me wrong this year
Thibs coaching on the offensive end this series wasn't good to say the least. This is why I'm sticking to my guns & will keep saying we need another coach more in tune with how the game is played in 2023. We need a coach that can actually help the team execute this & get easy looks/buckets. He's not the one; especially when it matters the most
