AND NOW FOR THE MOMENT YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR.
WACKY D.
GROUPS:
1. Outkast - biggest recipients of revisionist history in hip-hop ever.
2. The Fugees - their r&b popularity boosted their status in the rap game. the media acts like they cant differentiate the two. this is another negative for outkast as well.
3. UGK - i got mad respect for what these dudes did but theyre the poster-boys of hip-hop homers. i'll gladly take them off the list when bamas stop acting like theyre an all-time elite group.
4. De La Soul -but forreal tho, most of their stuff is blah.
5. Beastie Boys - i got love for these dudes and didn't want to do this but i cant be biased. lets be real, they havnt been chit in hip-hop since they left def jam. they trump snoop dogg in the "1-album wonder" category by far.
PRODUCERS:
1. Kanye West - Very dope behind the board but im not sure if he would even crack my top 40.
2. Timbaland - much better at r&b. again, another shining example of lines getting blurred, to a lesser degree.
3. J. Dilla - im sorry but i never felt his beats at all.
SOLO:
1. Eminem - you already know. and lol @ people in here talking about he got classic albums. he never came close to such. and he dam sure aint no goat battle rapper. his track record says hes below average.
2. Kanye West - possibly the overall most overrated entity in hip-hop history. from being an overrated producer to being considered a "lyricist" despite not writing his own chit to being hailed as an elite rapper just because hes a TMZ regular. and he pretty much embodies everything that's wrong with hip-hop today.
3. Lil Wayne - darn near everything has already been said in here concerning that bul.
4. T.I. - has 2 slammin albums but everything else is the embodiment of average & generic. plus hes the valedictorian of the SCKU(Shawn Carter-Knowles University) with degrees in propaganda & f*ckery. he mastered jay's blueprint and took it down south. he had it down pact, all the way to knowing which battles to force, which ones to duck, and how to sign & hinder artists and their careers.
5. Kendrick Lamar - newest entry. has arguably surpassed drake as the most obvious rap plant. the media & industry props this dude is getting are beyond ridiculous. and the easily impressionable internet audience is eating it up like hot cakes.
6. Drake -he has legit jams under his belt, so hes slightly better off than Kendrick.
7. Common - gets a pass for wearing the conscious tag. he never did anything to warrant the props that they make us feel obligated to give him.
8. Jay-Z - like dude on the previous page said, jay is the only rapper that cracks both this and my top 10 goat list.
sidenote: for what its worth, biggie just missed this list, but im not sure if biggie cracks my top 10 goat list anyway. nas might crack this list soon tho. so he could be joining jay as members of both clubs.
9. Lil Kim - she was washed as soon as biggie died. female goat my ass.
10. Missy Elliot - i know yall don't pay her any attention. its just crazy how she gets all this recognition. its sickening at times. another artist who gets crazy rap props because of their importance to the r&b crowds.
Wacky, who really overrates the fugees tho? Especially today
The consensus on them for the most part is that they came around at the right time, dropped one good album, had a few classic singles and that's about it, which is the truth.
I rarely if ever see anyone put them as true GOATs or in a top ten list. I mean.... most people say 2 of the 3 members are WACK lol
