Anti-blackness is very pervasive and normalized within American culture. Entertainment is unfortunately very good at reenforcing these anti black sentiments and attitudes

I'd say there's three groups within the black community we regularly express disappointment and attempt to hold to task regarding this: athletics, nikka nerds, and rappers

Each being a segment of the community who get presented with opportunities and experiences unique from the average black person. Which also comes with the added risk of a loss of identity due to their closer proximity to whiteness.

My question is, in yalls opinion which do yall think are the biggest sellouts in terms of downing black people for white acceptance and green capital?

And if you really wanna go down that road, tell me why you think that is?

Then there are high intellectual rappers like Lupe, Nas, OutKast, and more who I don’t remember but probably from the Midwest or something.

Can blame record labels for that though. Athletes may be a close second but not all of them are idiots and c00ns.

Rappers because their music is a cultural product/export that directly influences and impacts people, literally brainwashes/warps minds, shapes their reputations/images, dictates their moods/thoughts/actions/fashion trends or styles, dominates culture and permeates society at large. Great power/influence also comes with greater responsibilities and greater accountability

There are also much more music fans than professional/college sports fans. Music is the soundtrack of entire generations/people’s lives…it occupies an important place in peoples lives. You can find people who enjoy both music and Sports. But you cant find people who love sports and dont care about music at all. The love of music is universal and shared by all demographics unlike the love of sports.

I don’t see athletes who fukk Beckie’s/pawgs as c00ns with a negative influence on young folks either. c00n Rappers and c00n athletes are not on the same level of toxicity. Rappers are actively engaging in risky business and actively promoting bad behavior to impressionable black youth. Athletes are more or less passive c00ns if you want to call them that. But it’s ridiculous to say that Dating pawgs and telling young black kids to dabble in drugs/alcohol and participate in criminal activities are the same thing lol. And Most athletes on professional sports teams have no cultural or political influence over people anyway. Only the elite superstars/true nationwide faces of the league level stars in the nba or nfl have that kind of influence over people and as a result, are viewed as role models for the black youth. The masses have no idea about players like Bradley Beal, Fred Warner, Myles Garrett, Justin fields, dk metcalf, Anthony Richardson, Zay Flowers, LaMelo Ball or Pascal Siakam lol.

And nobody cares about nikka nerds. Very few people care about what they think, say or do anyway.
