I doubt it was even that big of a deal. Both of them being the greats that they are and knowing how to deal with crowds knew what they had to do. You see Orton doing it now where he's gonna give the crowd what they want but still manage to stay in character.

I think they both were expecting that type of reaction and they both are great at working Face/Heel so it wouldn't be that hard of a transition in the midst of a match if that's what the crowd is giving you. The crowd popped big for Hogan early but like most Rock matches when he is a heel, the crowd comes back to him in the middle of the matches since people genuinely love The Rock and how entertaining he is. You heard how big they popped when he hit the Peoples Elbow.

I think WM19 was a similar thing. I remember the promo he cut backstage where the crowd was booing him to start but he ended up turning them before the end of the promo. And in the match he works major heel putting on Austins Vest and shyt like that but by the end, the crowd was behind both of them.

There wasn't no damn match to bury Hogan...hogan would of never done the program in the first place and the Rock buries verbally. He's not about to ALL OF A SUDDEN out of the blue become some big politician trying to bury a guy he always wanted to work with. Fact is...fans wanted to cheer Hogan in Toronto. .Hogan beat up Rock the whole damn build. So he damn sure wasnt looking weak in the slightest. That's ridiculous.

They booed the Rock but then popped huge for the People's elbow. And if u ever want to see true greatness, watch the Raw after in Montreal. .The Rock is a genius. Came out to huge heat and huge boos...by the end of segment, they were cheering for him again. Legendary. Nobody has ever shown that type of ability.

i say don't designate someone as a face or a heel until you see how the audience to responds to them naturally first. in hogan's case it was obvious that he was gonna get a positive reception after such a long time away from the house that he had built.

no. it was the fact they were in Canada. had mania been in America, it would have played out differently as evident by the Raw where the match was made(chicago). They both got cheers, But rock got more. Now it worked out much better that Canada turned Hogan because that is a historic moment. But bringing in the nwo and Hogan as bad guys wasn't a bad idea. all that stupid ambulance truck shyt was stupid anyway, no one was buying Rock being in legit danger in 2002.

The script was probably to bury Hogan like Austin buried Scott Hall...so yes a match similar to that would have gotten mad shyt thrown in the ring and Rocky booed out of the building

its ok that Hogan outpopped Rock and carried the match...no need to feel shame...Hogan is the G.O.A.T breh

The original plan was for Hall to go OVER Austin, he went to Vince crying like usual and got the finish changed. and if you're gonna say anybody 'carried' anyone in that match, Rock did a massive carry job. Austin wasn't gonna sell for Hogan like that.

The fans didn't care who won or loss, they just wanted to cheer Hogan, who was finally home, and see a Dream Match. That makes sense. That's why they still popped for the people's elbow and still cheered at the end.
