True. But essentially the Minnesota nucleus is what Hinkie thought he could engineer. But he and his followers didn't realize you can't engineer LUCK.
To get a nucleus like Minnesota or OKC 5 years ago requires several steps that one can't control:
(1) Win the lottery. Even the worst team only has a 25% chance.
(2) Hope you win the lottery in a year when a trascendent player is available. Not every year is like 2014 or 2015. You can sometimes be stuck with a Anthony Bennett.
(3) Hope the transcendent player stays healthy. See Greg Oden.
This is why I never understood what Philly was doing. Their whole brilliant "trust the process" strategy required lots of LUCK.

It's not that bad. You needed to get out of this foolishness of tanking. Your not the Lakers. You don't have a organization players dream to be a part of. You need to get assets while build something. What Hinkie was doing was hustling backwards, making a fool of himself.
