All Hip hop forums? That was far from being a location. I never heard anyone say it as a verb when talking hip hop until after Nas. The culture wasn't exclusive to AHH. Nobody was saying it commonly until after Nas.
nikka you cannot say this as fact when there have been multiple posters in this very thread saying they were already using the term before Ether. Just because you slow nikkas didn't catch on until after Ether doesn't mean that's when it took off. Furthermore Ems entire purpose of making the song Stan was for that entire reason, he just didn't make that song to be making it, he made it to coin the term. Why that is so hard for some of you to grasp is beyond me.

Yall always jump to mud slinging when you losing an argument. Nobody outside of AHH and SOHH was referring to anyone as Stans pre-ether. We understood why Em made the song, we understood what it meant. It wasn't some hidden message. But it wasn't popularized as an insult in pop culture until Nas called Jay a stan.

Again I was using it in real life, I know others that were as well. You can't just say nobody outside of AHH and SOHH were using it when other people have stated they were. The term took off for you after Ether, that's your truth, but that doesn't apply to everyone. Once the song Stan was released I know me and my people immediately started using it against each other in regards to sports, wrestling, and music discussions. Everything doesn't become a thing for everybody at the same time. Also both SOHH and AHH were pretty big at the time

That's why I asked you where... I never said it was not used anywhere as a verb, I said it became popular, much more popular, after ether.

I really feel like I'm in a bizzaro world reading these kind of post. The song made it a verb, Nas was just the first to use it in a song, but it was already being used as such before Ether. Y'all couldn't have been a part of the culture back then with these takes.
I was 9 back then you fukking fakkit. What do you want from me 🤣

Edit: and im doubling down NOBODY WAS USING STAN LIKE THAT UNTIL NAS. You can try to revise shyt all you want. I dont know one soul who heard or watched the stan video and said "ima call nikkas that"

This is like asking who made adias in the 80s hot. Adias or Run DMC and then nikkas say well adias made the shoe so adias made it hot....yeah they made the shyt but dem shyts wasnt jumping off shelves until RUN DMC made that fukking song. Same thing applies to Stan yeah Em made the song but em wasn't running around calling other rappers stan as a diss. Yall old dementia having nikkas know damn well yall wasn't saying that shyt until Nas said it. Get Em dikk out ya mouth.

doesn't matter. it would've just been another forgettable song if not for Nas. Let's be real here. Part of Em's legacy rests on "Stan", and that legacy exists because of Nas. Nobody remembers "Kim" or whatever songs Em made.

The goat changed Stan from a proper noun to a common noun. Hilarious and smart shyt :ahh:

Plus Em got the idea for Stan from Nas (One Love). So the cypher's complete :ahh:
:dead: okay breh sure
