Explain breh
The BMR was 8 top black welter/middleweights that fought from the 30s to the 50s. And because of the unspoken color line in boxing they were kept out of main stream championship fights, so they were forced to fight each for colored championships over and over. Boxing had a 1 top black fighter rule similar to how comedy is looked at with only one top black comedian at the time(Kevin Hart type shyt). SRR was the one at at the time. Deservedly so but it allowed him to evade many top contenders outside of the main stream. The most infamous being Charley Burley who did fight both Archie Moore(who he beat) and Ezzard Charles(who he lost two twice while being outweighed).

And to make matters worse, barely any footage of those black fighters exists so they've truly been lost to time. Iirc there's a single Burley fight out there. But he's unquestionably one of the greatest of all time.

Yeah historical boxing footage is a sad yet fascinating topic. Even for SRR where almost all of the footage available is from him as a middleweight and after returning from retirement. He still looks like the greatest fighter ever created in his "washed" years. Blows my mind thinking about seeing him in his prime.

Nah they were mostly middles and welters. Especially Burley who he definitely should've fought. SRR is the goat but he slid on the smoke. Everybody at that level does to a degree. Not a slight. Part of the game.

You're not placing enough consideration on the timing and context. The vast majority of the murderous row were middleweights in the 1940s and were active in the Late 30s to very early 50s. Some of them like Charles Burley and Holman Williams fought in SRRs weight class but by the early 40s when Robinson was rising they were fighting at middleweight (Holman Williams and Charles Burley fought for the negro middleweight title in 1942 just two years after Robinson turned pro) Lloyd Marshall was a damn light heavyweight. In the 1940s Ray Robinson was a Welterweight granted who fought middleweights like Jake Lamotta and all those murderous row guys were in the middleweight division. Sugar Ray didn't become a middleweight until 1951 by which time those guys careers were mostly finished. You can argue Sugar could have fought them ( the best argument being Charles Burley) but to say someone ducked fighters that aren't even in his weightclass is a bit unfair to me. By the time Robinson won the Welterweight title in 1946 those guys were clear out of his weightclass.
