I've heard mixed things about doing either IT first or Cybersecurity first. Starting with cybersecurity course on courseera.

I just need to renew my certs that expired during covid. My company paid for the first cert test i want to renew one and after i get that i will look into getting them to do the rest. May look at some new things to train for (Cloud, CS, etc) or just refresh my R/S knowledge afterwards.

Literally gonna put everything into wrapping my degree this year. I have hit a point where I now get considered for higher positions but haven't snatched one yet. Currently waiting on one I interviewed for to deliberate but my ass will be in management if so. As far as keeping skills up to date, I always study random things so it's gravy for me.

Me! I did my Coursera course in 2023 and got the certificate. Gotta focus on my security+ this year. I've been slacking so much but I gotta dial it in for 2025

I keep hearing people say this but I feel like it’s too late. Still learn though but I don’t know what the future looks like here

There are about 60 Indians on my current cybersecurity team. The job before that it was about 35 people from Poland. That ship done sailed.
:mjlol:
Good luck.

@JT-Money what field should you get in since it is too late for IT? What advice would you give to broke people working dead end jobs?

It's not too late to get into IT. It just depends on how ambitious you are and how serious you are about self development. Because you'll need a lot of it if you want to advance.

@RamsayBolton Do help desk before tryna move into CyberSecurity or you'll get exposed. If it's not by your boss, your coworkers will definitely notice if they're about their shyt.

I still have a WORLD of shyt to learn but Ii literally posted about how this nepotism baby gotta go :snoop:... I don't work with any Indians.

Help Desk is crucial. I learned a sense of urgency, how to refine my workflow, and the nuances of my company in particular there. Once I moved up, a good chunk of knowledge and experience was automatic. DON'T BE wanna these b*stards talmbout "hELp DeSk dIdN't HeLp Me" after an unwarranted promotion when your team is clearing TEN TIMES the amount pf tickets than you in a single shift.... I swear to god
