IMO the biggest fall off occurs when a rapper forgets how to rap. Releasing worse albums than your old shyt is understandable given how music works. I accept that. But when you lose your talent that's another thing.

Prodigy comes to mind. Eminem too. Both had great flows. Very different but potent. Prodigy was like a battering ram flow wise whereas Em just had that effortless flow. Today neither can rap. Prodigy puts out some cool shyt here or there but the production has to be amazing. Em is straight trash, production doesn't matter because he's not rapping to the beat anyway lol.

Well in the entertainment industry everyone falls off at some point. It's just part of the business. People move on to the next hottest whatever. I think DMX's fall off was hard because it was so sudden. He literally went from releasing multi-platinum albums in one year and starring in big budget movies to just being gone. It's sad because he was one of the first hip hop artist to sell crazy amounts of records the first week. He did it before Em, Nelly, 50, and Lil' Wayne and he did it twice in one year. Despite all that, he's still a legend.
