Them Wu tang nikkas and radios didn't play southern music heavily for a long ass time.

U are full of sh*t

Songs that I remember on heavy rotation after Hot 97 changed its format to Hip Hop summer 1993:

Dominoe _ Ghetto Jam / Sweet Potato Pie
Snoop - Gin and Juice
2pac - I get around / Keep Ya Head up (Ran these songs into the ground)
DRS - Gangsta Lean ( ran this song into the ground along with WBLS)
Cypress Hill - Insane In The Membrane
MC Eiht - Straight Up Menace (non stop with this song)
Tag Team - Whop There It Is (ran this song in the ground as well a kiss and wbls)
Warren G - Regulate / This DJ
Scarface - Never seen a Man cry
2pac - Dear Mama
2Pac - Old School (this wasnt even a single , it was an album cut yet it got heavy rotation on Hot 97...matter fact, the first time I ever heard this song was on Hot 97)
Coolio - Gangster Paradise
Goodie Mob - Cell Therapy

and I'll never ever forget spring 97 when B-Rock, The Bizz's song "My Baby Daddy" won the Angie Martinez's Battle Of The Beats for a week. Till this day I still say that the success of that song was "the beginning of the fukkery in Hip Hop"

Lol bro you're from atl? You cant be serious? Y'all ain't shyt. All y'all know for is gay nikkas and trannys. Have fun with hiv brah brah strap up

NY's current most commercially popular rapper, Nicki Minaj (L there alone), couldn't even get signed in NY, she had to go down to ATL and get down with Waka's mom...

On her last album, there was only one producer used who was born in NY...

And he's a cac...

:francis:

:dead:

Great counter argument ...I stopped taking u serious the minute I saw ur username was one of Gucci Manes monikers...Again, the east coast in general has the best rappers to ever do it and it's not even close....shyt, even if we're strictly talking rappers from Brooklyn/queens it would still b a landslide....more dope rappers from there than the entire south no question about it

nikkas was hating on the Dirty South back in 05-07 when people still remotely cared about lyrics

The myth was that southern rappers had garbage lyrics and relied on simple hooks and ringtone beats which was true about most of the mainstream music that got played. Still you can't put artists like UGK, Geto Boys, Outkast, etc. in the same bracket with people like Shawty Lo, Souljah Boy, Shop Boyz and all the other one-hit wonders.

Not a lot of folks could tell the difference and they were saying "fukk the South" so Pimp C, known for his short temper, went out and made this record.

But even people from the south like scarface had issues with what was happening...

8ball had quite a few features on east coast albums
Scarface had features on east coast albums
Outkast had features on East Coast albums
Cash Money had features on East Coast albums
lil flip was getting dipset features
ti was getting features as well

all of that somehow gets overlooked:ohhh:

Pimp couldnt see what the end game was and got caught up in an napoleon complex...

Now look at the results:yeshrug:

Its pretty much became disposable artists who get passed off after 1 hit..:francis:

But scarface and bushwick was on a kool g rap record though:dwillhuh:

Some southern acts may have been "too regional" for certain tastes, just as some east coast nikkas were too regional for southern nikkas tastes...

and i doubt the poison clan made its way to nyc...

the internet wasnt poppin during that time...

they were a regional act breh

if you would have said 2 live crew itself, thats 2 different monsters

How come u havent mentioned that 2 Live Crew, NWA, Too Short and Geto Boys records couldnt be played on the radio because they were too vulgur? Why are u talking like late 80's/early 90's radio is like it is in 2015? Why arent u mentioning that NY didnt have Hip Hop station till 93 which did play who was hot in the south?
