My cousin (8) got bit by the neighbor’s pit bull fall 2021 and the insurance settled with my cousin for 120k summer 2022. His mom and dad (both in deep credit card and mortgage refinance debt) already spent most of the money on used foreign cars and my aunt’s lipo and other bodywork.

My little cousin told my kids he’s rich and his dad promised to take him to Disney land when he turns 10. I don’t even think his settlement will be left in 2 months.

Same thing happened to my brother in law. He was a kid when he got bit, and was under the impression that the money was in a trust he would get access to when he turned 18. shyt hit the fan when he found out that the money was long gone before he turned 18.

Are you from the South? Doing genealogy, I see this a lot especially in small southern towns where the black families been there for generations. You end up marrying into many of those same families and everybody is "cousin's" in some way or another.

My Dad's side is from Mississippi, and my Mom's side is from Haiti and Louisiana

My Dad's people from Mississippi and Louisiana the same way. I have female cousin on that side that married a man that had her same surname. Mind you, we have a very unique French surname that comes from only one French (white) family that settled in Louisiana and her husband had the same name. I have an aunt that was saying they weren't related but it's only one family with that name. Doing the genealogy on that line, the family is massive, with the patriarch having about 15 kids, and each of the kids having 10 to 15 kids each and each of their kids having 10 to 15 kids each. The family is massive and it's easy, especially living in the small towns, to marry someone that is a cousin whom you shared a common ancestor with 100+ years ago. It happens quite frequently actually.

Most pointedly that not all family is always blood, and more sinisterly, blood does not always translate into family.


Most of my actual biological FAMILY is already gone unfortunately, but im carrying on and doing them proud until i see them again
