My VR&E got approved the day after I got two job offers
I swear I got weird ass luck :dwillhuh:

The reason I brought up the job offers because that's the reason I applied for VR&E. I had no luck finding a decent gig.
What did you do to get approved for vr&e. Was it mainly because you had difficulty finding a job? I tried last year but got turned down. Basically wanted to get some extra skills but I am gainfully employed

I'm doing security guard as a part time gig, so I basically told my evaluator how my service related disabilities are affecting my abilities to perform my civilian job plus I told the evaluator I was having trouble finding another job that would be easier on my service related disabilities.

Edit: The evaluator agreed the job market was tough right now and I think that was the key to me getting approved

Can you do both? Stack some bread 🤷🏽‍♂️
Yeah you can. I tried getting VR&E earlier this year but the counselor denied me because she thought I would not have an issue with finding another job once my company’s contract was expired. I have a bachelors in business but wanted to get one for IT since that is what I do now. I should have prepared better for the interview by watching more YouTube videos on the interview process. Might apply again later if I feel motivated to go to school. Worse case, I’ll just use my GI bill

Im retired after 20yrs AD, E8, and got 100% P&T

I never looked into or even know what vr&e is about. School me on game
VR&E is kinda like the GI Bill. They pay for an educational or job training program. The catch is finding a employment track that is easier on your service related disabilities.

I think most vets use this Chpt 31 as an option to obtain a second degree or certifications, etc. if their GI Bill is depleted or close to being depleted

This question is for anyone to answer

How long did you wait before trying to increase your disability rating to 100?

For me. Immediately.

I went from 10% to 100% in an about a year and a half.

When I got to 80% I put in for migraines. They gave me 50% but it according to VA Math it only put me at 84%

I had already before hand started the process of seeing a Va Psychologist and just got back from my first visit. I immediately put in for my mental health claims the day I found out my migraines claim did not put me at 100.

I also appealed two other claims I got denied for.

My appeals got denied in a higher review but my mental health claims put me over the threshold for 100%.

This is what I did. They sent me out the door with 60% then that went to 70% then 90% then 100%. I just went to the hospital and filed claims as they discovered more shyt.

The VA wouldn’t exist if Veterans weren’t disabled so they’ll find reasons for you to come to the hospital just file for what they find.

EXACTLY! I used the VA hospital to decide what to file next. Then I referenced the Va as proof of my claims

The psychologist diagnosed me and I filed a claim using what they said I had that same day.

yep if they didn’t diagnosed me with PTSD I would’ve never put it down. I low key disagreed with them. They said I had PTSD and related depression.

Me too. They diagnosed me with Anxiety and Depression. I didn’t agree with that at all but I used that info to put in my claim. Ended up giving me 70% for mental health

Yep self licking ice cream cone. If you’re not feeling anxious or down then you don’t need wellbutrin and if you don’t need that they don’t need to be there so just file the claim and take the money.

You stop requesting the refills and they’ll drop off the list but you still have the rating.

Smh, I finally filed in Sept after leaving active duty 11 years ago and Guard 4 years ago . I can’t believe I waited this long . Got 30% off some BS and now awaiting my “Mental Health “ decision . Also, didn’t know you get more pay for dependents, so I added them recently and they cut me a check . About to look up this VRE shyt, but I already have a bachelors .
