23andme to see supplementation I needed about nearly 10 years ago. I basically was a mess before I found out what neurochemicals, vitamins, etc. I needed to be focusing on. I had nothing going on for me before then.

From those genetic insights:
Went back to school and now on the verge if completing STEM degree #2. That’s two degrees (CS and EE) in less than 10 years while working a full-time SWE job. Learning anything is so easy now and I can do it for 16 hours per day or longer. Compared to the past I’d be falling asleep reading something after 30 minutes.

Quit all the stuff that doesn’t work (found out I’m immune to caffeine from 23andme). Added what I needed. I’ve been a new person because of that data. You can see the difference on the quality and frequency of my github commits before and after 23andme so it’s trackable.

Does it suck that a company may have my data? Sure, but it also sucks companies have access to a whole lot of data anyways. All I know is the path I was on about 10 years ago without these things would’ve been much worse. 1000000% worth it because the gain was exponential. I’m glad I capitalized on it.

Getting correct supplementation for a person’s specific biology is a game changer. There’s no substitute to that and saves a lot of time. General health advice is great, but it doesn’t work for everybody. Reports like this tell you specifically if something like the Keto diet is effective for you (it was for me).

I, for one, welcome our new space overlords.
Gonna sound lame, but I got married.

I was the laziest person. Socially lazy too. Didn't network, didn't try hard enough to get better jobs, didn't upgrade my education.

To be honest I was just a breh who was making it up as I go. My wife is very active and driven. It rubs off on you wjen you live with people like that. I don't have wasted days anymore coz I was do something positive.

Yes, while I was doing a bid in the bushes - got a six figure job offer and got married (again). Already got the house, working on the kids. Very active in my church.

Life is good :blessed:

great thread

for real. salute everybody making progress.

- I'm a few months removed from being out of a 8 year relationship that probably shouldn't went over half that time. became an on and off thing and honestly, I attribute a lot of health issues I started dealing with to the stress from that situation. Blood Pressure was high, cholesterol was high, sitting around doing shyt but smoking weed and indulging in bullshyt foods. A month after we officially parted ways, I got sober from Alcohol, which was probably the best decision I've made in years. I had already cleaned my diet up big time, and started taking my exercise routines more serious. I'd always do lil pushup sets and dumbbell workouts around the crib, but now I'm hitting the gym at least 4 days a week and utilizing the weight bench that's been in the garage for years lol. Still got a ways to go to reverse all the damage caused from lack of effort over the years, but starting to see positive changes in that regard. If I suck my gut in, I can see abs for the first time in my life lol (I'm 39 next month.)

-As of January 31st, I gave up weed. 20 year smoker. Didn't even think it was possible, just had a revelation at work that day that it was time to quit. Haven't smoked since; last week was the first time I really kicked it with my potnas since I stopped and I was able to chill and enjoy myself without relapsing - also felt kind of boujee as I wasn't feeling the weed smell that was in my clothes after I left. Finding myself way more personable since I quit, striking up small talk with people opposed to avoiding eye contact and conversation cause I used to be so got damn high all the time. Got cool with a few folks at the gym now that I'm a "regular", which is dope as I haven't been the type to make new "friends" or acquaintances in forever - I work with all CAC's, so ain't no co-worker mingling for me. Some of em cool as a fan no doubt, but nah. Also posting on here more - back active in the weekly wrestling threads like I used to be in my teenage years, shyt is good for the mental to be able to converse with folks with similar interests.

-Focusing on myself more than anything else. I ain't out here trying to catch rebound p*ssy or find a broad to fill the void my ex left. I'm chilling like a muthafukka, my days are filled from top to bottom. By the time I get home and prep for the next day, it's time to hit the sack.

Just continuously making strides to be a better got damn person. I did a lot of shyt wrong in my life, a lot of shyt I ain't proud of, so now I'm just trying to live right. Be a positive example for my son and others.

went from:

—being skinny.

—ex playing games (first relationship ever).

—a real mental health illness leading to all my “friends” mocking and ghosting me.

—being arrested twice all before 21 & dealing w/ that in secret all alone.

to:

—being able to bounce back, land a career job.

—gained a significant amount of muscle (dont really scale watch anymore, gained at least 50+ lbs).

—learned to fade myself up over the years, so i stay clean.

—grown man swag up exponentially.

—locs swinging.

stats: repping 275x5 on bench just now, coming off a chest workout just last night. (goal is to rep 315+ before summer), w/ a 495 deadlift.

continuing to move in silence and reinvent and gatekeep myself.
