Most eastern and African countries eat rice for breakfast. My mother's family was from the Carolinas and they ate basically like a very lightly sweetened rice pudding for breakfast.

Not only do majority of Asia consume rice for breakfast but a lot of kids in the western world eat rice for breakfast too. Not just the obvious rice krispies but cocoa pops are made of rice too

We weren’t really big rice eaters to begin with. Only have rice if I’m eating ethnic food but I don’t cook it at home.

Yeah, I would say that there are a few exceptions. My initial thoughts were creole/cajun cuisine and, as you said, the cuisine of the Carolinas. But are you saying rice was a staple at every meal like it is in Asian, West African, and Latin AmerIcan food? I feel like the potato was more of the staple for the average American.

If I had to choose between potatoes or rice, I’m going with potatoes.
