but if there was anyone in the context of hip hop who's a great of a songwriter and can not only produce but play instruments, the answer my nikkas is brad jordan aka scarface. face can write, produce, play instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keys,and violin) and all that. he's the closest in "hip hop form" that could be a "hip hop" version of prince. then you factor in the fact that face been in the game since the 80's and has been a consistently great artist in an art form like hip hop where most after a few years run out of steam and fall off into obscurity; face still puttin' out quality music
