Good question and the answer is nobody except maybe Kendrick or J Cole. Anybody else whos in that arguable goat status or just outside of it,J Cole is not fukking with. I personally dont feel Kendrick or Drake are either. But i do like them and appreciate both for what they do. Bars wise and catalogue wise im just not impressed enough. Do J Cole can continue to battle it out with them.

Every serious GOAT contender has at least one legendary album. Cole never made one—he’s put out good albums, but nothing truly great. I don’t doubt that his fans enjoyed them, but they still don’t reach that level.

The only post-2010s rapper consistently brought up in that discussion is Kendrick, and that happened after he released multiple universally acclaimed albums. As for Drake, his fans labeled him a legend largely because of his massive commercial success. Ultimately, neither side lacks for supporting arguments. Drake got the massive appeal, Kendrick got the quality and massive acclaim.

Cole though... there’s honestly not much to support that status, mostly just his feature run, and even then, many of those verses sounded interchangeable.

He’s probably the rapper with the weakest case.

The real question is: what talented rapper isn’t better than J. Cole? The man dropped seven albums and multiple mixtapes and his best project still didn’t even get rated as a 7/10.

I think you start around Fab and work your way down from there.

Fab in his own right is gonna go down in history. So it’s not a slight.

I think just talent wise, I have Fab clear.

But the reason why I say start at Fab is…just discog for discog….if you don’t simply go by top tracks, MAYBE it’s starts to seem somewhat close, idk?

Fab has the more iconic / cultural hits with Breathe & all the R&B feats. As well as the resonating mixtape series. In several aspects Fab just represents a certain era more

….the more I type this post, the more I see my error in starting at Fab :mjlol:

Imma try tho….J Cole’s FNL & Warm Up were splashes and were very significant for his specific era too tho. While I don’t think he can go cultural song for song with Fab….i think the fans of that era would put FNL up against anything Fab related (not saying they right).

Man tbh idk. The best thing Cole has going in these arguments is not really music / discog related. Cole’s best claim to these arguments is the fanbase & popularity he was able to capture just by making relatable, accessible, easy going music with a good flow.

What's Kiss' legendary album?
