Yes, as a pre teen Pete Nice, Big Daddy Kane and Rakim were my style icons I wanted to emulate their style when I grew up. Coolest cats on my TV screen.
Exactly. I was a pre teen in that era also.

Big Daddy was the epitome of cool. Had a young General getting lines cut in his eyebrows. When my dad saw that he went nuclear

Pete Nice was NICE. Plus the cac just seemed cool as hell. Probably helped he was standing next to a buffoon who was always dancing

BDK in the Self Destruction video with the high top fade and MCM jacket was the epitome of cool.
Rakim in Microphone Fiend rhyming while walking thru the club epitome of cool.
Pete Nice telling a chic to step off because she didn't buy any of his jewelry epitome of cool.

Favourite: Paul Wall, just because he always came off genuinely part of the culture and besides Evidence the only white rapper i regularly listen to.
Technically: Em. Although I have a hard time relating to his subject matter/concepts, technically he is in a class of his own but has been leaning on chopper flows for way to long to offset a real lack of substance in his raps.
Checking for: Ot the real. Hunger, bars, credibility and substance.

It's gotta be The Beastie Boys because they're the most iconic, at least to me.
