The answer is 2 Chainz.

He caught his run due to the huge void in Southern rap caused by Gucci, TI & Boosie all being locked up, Lil Wayne losing steam post Carter 3 & Jeezy cooling off. It was the perfect trap storm for him and he capitalized on it. It was basically between him & Yo Gotti for the top spot but Gotti had label problems and 2 Chainz had Street Execs. Chainz switched from the name Tity Boi, flooded the open market and didn't look back.

got a platinum album under his belt thanks to timbaland

U dead ass bro?

Fab was smart with his choices

After Ma$e left the rap game Fab filled that void... back when every rapper was trying to be the next PAC or Big nobody thought of trying to be the next Ma$e

And Fab going to Dj Clue to get put on played a big part in him blowing up also. Clue was the most popping Dj out back then

My westcoast nikka knows wtf he speaking about

Hands down Kendrick Lamar

He blew at the right time. In the 90's he would've been an underground rapper like Chino Xl

He's a star now cause his competition is mumbling retards
This is horrendous logic.

At the very least, Kendrick can rap, and makes relatable shyt (his reach would translate to any period), regardless of one's taste when it comes to his music. There are far more "successful" rappers throughout history who can't rap, or who don't have relatable content, or both, that Kendrick's name shouldn't be even uttered in this thread.

Nah they was playing 50 shot ya on the radio like it was a single. First time I ever heard mixtape songs on the radio. In da club was cool but he could've put out anything n it would've went. The buzz was that crazy. I was there n im talking bout ny. N he jus finished getting shot up and black balled while still waring wit nikkas in his hood. 50s luck stopped at surviving 9 shots keeping his voice and limbs in tact. Everything else was str8 hustle n being clever.

This thread is some hater shyt. Only way this list is valid is if u put str8 weed carriers or ig viral rappers. Nobody makes it that far as the nikkas u talking about wit out some type of grind involved.
I was going say. OP acting like Wanksta wasn't a hit before In Da Club even dropped.

I always liked Nelly. Everybody thought Nelly was good in the early 2000's though. Ja Rule too. These 2 rappers are def not as bad as some make them out to be.

50 was the biggest rapper when i was in high school. Everybody was screaming G-G-G-G-Uniiiittt!!! We where white boys with G-Unit sneakers. I had the S. Carters though which where fire also but Jay was not half as big as 50 was. Even though Hov was really huge back than to.

Back than Rap was even more popular than Rock with white folks.
