Spurs was so well ran. Duncan should only have 2 finals mvps Out of 5 five rings instead of 3.

i watch the lakers scramble to build a team around Kobe, Rush, & Walton after that 04 loss. In 3 years the lakers were back in the finals.

Duncan led spurs lost as a 1st seed to a 8th seed. Something no one talks about

kobe is a easy pick for me
That's a really good point.

If a player is top 10 all time, this should NEVER happen, unless he didn't play at least half the games. Even if the player is banged up, that loss shouldn't happen.

Actually, Duncan might have to be #10 simply because of this fact.

Every player has low points, even the All-Timers. Mike has a losing career record without BOTH Phil Jackson and Scottie Pippen, shouldn't the greatest player ever at least be expected to not be so reliant on two individuals, so that he could be above .500 for his career? Just one game over .500?

All the greats have shyt we can nitpick. 2011 Duncan was a down year from start to finish, no question about it and when we nitpick it can deservedly come up in conversation. Most people thought he was washed with that season's performance and then he came back strong the next couple years, particularly '13 and his '13 Finals performance was FMVP worthy had they won, he was the best player in the series after Bron...

So he wasn't actually washed in '11 but it was certainly a down year and that '11 Rd1 out can be held against him to a minor degree, but literally everyone has shyt to nitpick about...

I got Tim over Kobe but these my 2 favorite players ever. Duncan has more rings more MVPs (should be at least even here tho) and more finals MVPs (Duncan would have actually got at least 4 FMVPs if not for Ginoboli’s dumb foul on Dirk and Ray Allen’s 3/Pops dumb decision in game 6). Bean is a more talented player, more skilled offensive player but Tim was able to play with more varied pieces around him due to his ability to anchor top 5 defenses throughout his entire career.

Danny was dope but Duncan had some elite turn back the clock moments in that series. He was winning it bro...
you right but going into the close out game six. Danny green was right there if not the front runner. danny shat the bed on offense and defense and cost the spurs. Along with Kathy and Duncan missing clutch free throws

Kobe never had that luxury as the man. LA went as far as he could take them

its a legit case Duncan wasn’t the clear best player on his own team in 4 nba finals. Even though he was clearly the better player every season on his team

i can’t imagine the criticism of Kobe if Fish won a FMVP like Parker or Trevor Ariza won FMVP like Kawhi

Kobe catch hate for Shaq winning FMVP lol

We talking Shaq

This is no minor degree tho.

He's the head guy on the spurs.

The team wasn't destroyed by injuries.

And they were the 1 seed which meant there 1st round opponent should not have been a factor, as history has suggested. AND they were good enough to be considered a favorite to win the CHIP.

If you couple this with the fact that the Spurs had a finals MVP playing in the series, there was no reason for them to lose IN SIX!!!.

Only 2 other teams lost in the 1st round as a 1 seed, and none of those teams had a top 20 player all time, let alone a top 7 guy.

Kobe would never lose in the 1st round as a 1 seed. And that says a lot.
