WHAT WAS HIS WEAKNESS WEIRDO?
HE LITERALLY COULD DO EVERYTHING ON THE COURT
OFFENSIVELY
•he didn't have elite burst once he left his athletic peak in the early 00s. He could struggle to get around faster defenders;
•he didn't have elite vision and could fall into tunnel vision that missed open teammates who had better shot attempts;
•his shot selection could be detrimental to the offense which correlates with his vision. There are a million examples of Kobe taking on the double (or triple) team when he didn't HAVE to, and sure, he made alot of these shots, bit he missed a lot as well
•his passing delivery wasn't elite. He could be an above average passer at best, which is really good, but his passing trails many All-Timers;
•traps could bother him and inhibit his decision making. Part of this is because he was really only 6'4 by his own admission, he didn't have the size to deftly navigate traps, but the other part is his decision making while being trapped, he'd force shots or these traps baited him into turnovers;
•once he left his athletic peak of the early 00s he wasn't a threat at the rim anywhere near some of the All-Timers he gets compared to...
DEFENSIVELY
•he wasn't a real threat to contest at the rim, especially when his athletic waned;
•his defensive engagement certainly was an issue. Kobe left full-time effort on that end once Shaq left, which is somewhat understandable because of the offensive burden he carried, no one is 100% on both sides but he could be lackadaisical;
•he was a swiper and would eschew technique for swiping at the ball at times that would result in advantage for the opponent;
•he could not be relied upon to defend the other team's best player because he had a choosy motor
•poor weak side defender...
All players have weaknesses. To suggest they don't is ridiculous and to suggest Kobe Bryant of all people, who had some pretty noticeable holes, is just your Standom at play...
