It's because nerds focus more on academics instead of social activities. To be honest I hate that correlation, because intelligence is very very subjective.

Your right OP Malcolm X was very brilliant, but he wouldn't be considered somebody calls a nerd.

But you should demonize people who choose to put their heads in the books all the time. Those people aren't socially awkward at all.

i think its a good thing. i remember when i was growing up in school its like it was cool to be dumb. that was some stupid shyt. but if u were smart people would make fun or look at u funny.

this is because you kids lacked nuts. If somebody was trying to make it look cool they were dumb they got roasted. Exactly. Like I went to HS with dudes who had drug and murder chargers but still enjoyed Dragonball Z. People use the Nerd thing as "you guys dont rock with me because I`m just so dedicated to my work and you guys aren't". Hell its even more evident in College where you have "popular" people who are popular because they are making moves, getting good grades, and involved in athletics or student organizations.
