Ok I will say Melo is/was actually more talented...but piru is the better player and far better team player.

But yes it could be argued for both but overall PP had the more productive career....Both are hall of famers.

Pierce could fit into a team more. He could set guys up, he could defend, he could score without needing to take all the shots. I wouldn't want either as my #1 unless I had a really balanced team but I'd take Pierce in a supporting role before I'd take Carmelo.

Melo had pieces too though, let's not act like he was playing with bums his whole career. Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Kenyon Martin, Marcus Camby, Andre Miller, Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudemire, Jeremy Lin , he played with all of these cats at one point or another, at relatively different levels of effectiveness for him and them.

Put prime melo on those Celtics teams and they win 2 or 3 titles. I'm tired of this under rating of Melo. He was one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. He had size strength and his first step was damn near unguardable and he could shoot.

Son I’m trying to tell these guys. I’m convinced that nobody actually watches basketball and just looks at stats and freedawkins highlights. Pierce and Melo operated in some of the same spots(low post), but there game was nothing alike. Pierce could bring the ball up the court and make plays. Melo could never do that. Do you know how many game winning assists Pierce has in the big 3 era alone? Look at these two passes in the final minute. Melo couldn’t make that second pass if his life depended on it.
