Melo had better offensive numbers and was probably the better player on paper. In Melo's prime he was also more athletic and more of a pure scorer.

Melo was a bigger and a little bit of a great value version of what James Harden is now.

Pierce wasnt anywhere near as talented as Melo, but he played both ends of the floor. Pierce's game was more suited for success playing with other talented guys too, because he wasn't anywhere near as ball dominate nor was he the volume shooter that Melo was in his heyday.

If I was trying to win a title and was a piece or two away I'd choose prime Pierce over prime Melo. If I was a lottery team and trying to build from scratch I'd take the more talented player in prime Melo.

Melo had pieces too though, let's not act like he was playing with bums his whole career. Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Kenyon Martin, Marcus Camby, Andre Miller, Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudemire, Jeremy Lin :heh:, he played with all of these cats at one point or another, at relatively different levels of effectiveness for him and them.
Context is lacking.

he played with a 40 year old Jason Kidd and iverson in his latter years.

he never had a team like the 08 Celtics

Athleticism is more than vertical leap

Pierce always looked slow and a tad out of shape to me even in his younger days.

He reminded me a lot of those older cats that would come to the rec gym and look like trash on the eye test, but would come in and still kill everyone in the gym with their craftiness, skills, and feel for the game.

Harden is better scorer in my opinion although I hate his game.

He shoots the 3 rock better and he's a better free throw shooter than Melo from what I remember too.

When Harden gets hot he's a marvel to watch on offense, but my knock on him is he doesnt play defense and he disappears to much in critical situations for my liking.

Pierce had the better career. Melo had a better peak. I'll take Pierce, a lot of people forget how good and clutch he was on his early days with the Celtics cus they were a bad team. They just remember an old Pierce when Celtics were good.

I'm saying how are Harden and Melo's game related?

So what that doesn’t mean shyt here as pierce had a very quick first step himself and was strong.

unlike melo he had a 40 inch very to go with it. Pierce was the better athlete
