I was thinking about Family Matters a few weeks back and it hit me. what Jaleel did was incredible.

Stephan and Steve are two completely different characters. and he played them well.

Will was practically playing himself in real life
It's wild when you grow up and notice his talent. I don't think a lot of actors could pull off the transformation scenes without looking dumb

It's not a knock against Will at all because he was capable of a lot and Fresh Prince would have been a far worse show without him, but Family Matters is dead without Jaleel. It's just a decent little sitcom that maybe gets a second season. Jaleel was like, 13/14 when he started playing Urkel? He was consistently stealing scenes away from the others because of how funny he was. He said that whatever role they gave him, he put his all into it and you could see it when you look back at the show. It's rare you get someone that good and that young. He literally carried the show on his back. :wow:

Plus, all the different characters he played. He was doing the shyt voice actors do in live-action before he was 21. :wow:

Sitcom for sitcom, it’s Jaleel by a long shot even though FP is a way better show and Will grew to be a good actor.

It’s a shame that that Family Matters got so cheesy because Jaleel was on one from his very first scene. Some of his mannerisms, timing, and physical comedy of the earlier years is remarkable from an acting standpoint for somebody that young. He should be revered but he played the role so well that he will forever be Urkel.

That's something that stuck with me too. And his major confidence.

He had amazing parents who were very involved in his work. I'm sure that only added to his success. A total natural but his hard work paid off!

Jaleel White was so good at playing his character that he can't really get any other work because that's all people ever really see him as.

Dude is a really talented actor. He needs to play a criminal or drug lord in his next big role to get that Urkel funk off. 50 should cast him as the lead for Power Book 13

I mean....the new Power (Force) does take place in Chicago.

Family Matters was in Chicago

Stefan Urkel as the biggest distro in the Midwest. Coming up with all kinds of chemically enhanced urban pharmaceuticals :sas2:.

Carl got too nosy one day and almost figured it out. Steve had to take care of Carl. Laura tried to divorce Steve but he made her pop out 5 sons and those lil nikkas is ruthless. Told her all she's getting is a block of gouda cheese and his accordion.:sas1:
