2012 was clearly setting up for Jericho to win the rumble. Sheamus has always gotten mild reactions at best. Even then, look at all the others. They botched 2011 and 2013-today. At this point, they may as well scrap the royal rumble match entirely. It's been that long since they got it right.

Yeah. He was the last guy who won it for the first time and went on to win their first title without being buried in the process like they did with Rey. In 2007 we had taker win it, 2008 we had cena win it in admittedly the only shocking or exciting thing he's done since 2005 save for his program with the rock. 2009 everything with Randy and legacy bored me. 2010 edge was a good call but he was already a top guy. 2011 nobody cared about ADR. 2012 should've gone to Jericho and they wasted it on Sheamus. 2013 cena was a big middle finger to all the paying customers. 2014 Batista and 2015 roman were increasingly bigger middle fingers to paying customers. I missed last year since we had already seen the Steve Austin 1999 royal rumble storyline and the 2014 Bryan vs the authority angle. Then there's this year. shyt, 4 of the last 5 winners have been former winners already and the guy who won for the first time was someone nobody wanted at all.

Sheamus in my opinion. I was so fixed on Jericho winning that the brogue kick that won it for him shocked me big time. And he had a low-key superstar of the year esque run that same year too
