For the people picking Tyson, name some high level boxers Tyson defeated and compare them with the people Ali defeated, many of which Ali beat way after his prime.

Tyson was not knocking out George Foreman. The only reason that Ali knocked out Foreman was because of the heat in Congo and Ali was able to get the fight into middle rounds.

Tyson's best attribute was getting early knockouts. His only chance against Foreman would be to take him into later rounds, but Tyson himself struggled the longer a fight went on. Take a look at the round that Buster Douglas knocked Tyson out in. Then realize that Buster Douglas is not even in the same area code of fighter as Ali and Foreman. Those jabs that Ali and Foreman threw would have been terrible for Tyson.

Tyson would've knocked out Foreman. Foreman had those slow, wide hooks to the body, not much of a jab. Tyson is a inside fighter by nature, and far quicker than foreman.

I'm aware of Tyson's attributes, but just don't see him taking Ali, based on the evidence. Yes, Tyson looked like a good against tomato cans, and great fighters past their prime, but their resumes don't look remotely equal.

It doesn't help that when evaluating Tyson, so have to use so many qualifiers. The so-called Prime years with Cus D'Amato and Kevin Rooney had Tyson steamrolling fighters who weren't worth much more, and after D'Amato dying and firing Rooney, every high-level fighter he went against beat him.

I agree.

I will at admit that, he had rather unique circumstances tho, which were, in a big way, his own undoing.

Getting passed to jab would be difficult for Tyson. He would have to do it early too.

I'ma go with Ali .

Mike is the flashy/style pick but I feel Ali would overcome all of that.

Ali is by far the flashier fighter. Mike's style is functional.. Every move he makes is a set up for another move. A shot to the ribs lowers his opponents guard for an uppercut, which is a combination he used a lot to great effect. His rushing on the inside is to get an angle that his opponent can't defend. Floyd Patterson used the same peek a boo style.

Every move has a purpose.

I’d have to say Ali. Why? Because besides being a foot plus taller Ali was not only graceful, fast but had a crazy reach. He punished people and gloated about it. He outboxed people. Mike was just pure raw power. Ali would devastate Mike.
